Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) installs new security features in Internet Explorer. The Information Bar described above is displayed when potentially dangerous actions on a Web page have been blocked.
Whenever you use the Shipping Solutions Professional Export Compliance Module, the software creates an XML file containing the data required for the compliance screening you chose. For example, if you are conducting Restricted Party Screening, the software creates a file containing all the contact information for your selected shipment record, uploads the information to our secure web server, compares the data against all the parties on any of the government lists, and returns the results to you in a few seconds.
It is the process of creating the appropriate XML file that will be uploaded to our secure web server that generates this error message.
Microsoft provides two options for bypassing the warning message:
1. The safest option is to simply click on the Information Bar in Internet Explorer and choose the option to "Allow Blocked Content." This will permit you to screen this export shipment in Shipping Solutions Professional without reducing the level of security in the future that Microsoft is trying to provide your computer with this tool.
If you choose this option, you will have to click the "Allow Blocked Content" option every time you run a Export Compliance Screening. In reality, that will only cost you 2 or 3 seconds on every screening.
Shipping Solutions strongly recommends that you use this option.
2. If you don't have 2 or 3 seconds to spare, you can disable this security feature so that the Information Bar does not appear when you are running your compliance screening from Shipping Solutions Professional.
WARNING: Disabling this security feature disables it for all applications and websites that attempt to run active content on your desktop. Some of these attempts may be malicious.
Follow these steps to disable this feature:
a) In Internet Explorer, click on Tools => Internet Options.
b) Click on the Advanced tab at the top of the screen.
c) Scroll down to the Security section and click on the box that says "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer." (See http://www.phdcc.com/xpsp2o.gif)
d) Click OK.
The Information Bar should no longer pop up when you run the Compliance Screening from Shipping Solutions Professional.
