Consignee Type

Detailed
Description:
Ultimate Consignee type not being transmitted to AES.

Ultimate Consignee Type not showing up on invoices, or shippers letter of instructions

when we ship through a freight forwarder, we do not file AES. How will they know how to catalog or code the customer?
Problem Type: Export Forms
Version Number: Pro 9.0
Status: Closed
Solution: Shipping Solutions Versions 9.06 & 8.06 are ready for the April 5th, 2014 AES changes when you file electronically through Shipping Solutions.

If you are using an older version or use the paper SLI in SED format to give to your forwarder rather than filing yourself, there are a couple of options.

• You can enter the new information (Ultimate Consignee Type, License Value, and Filing Option) in the SLI Special Instructions box. To do this go to the EZ Start tab, choose the Shipper’s Letter of Instruction screen, and enter the information in the SLI Special Instructions box. If the information is the same or very similar every time, you could go to the Databases tab, enter the information in the Phrases database and then pull it from the drop-down box into the SLI Special Instructions box. You could then edit if for any changes. It will appear below the product line items on the SLI in SED format.

• You can enter the new information (Ultimate Consignee Type, License Value, and Filing Option) in the SED Export License Type box, which is located on the EZ Start tab, EEI-Electronic Export Information (AES) screen. You can type directly into that box, and it will appear in box 27 on the SLI in SED format.

In the next version of Shipping Solutions, which is due out this summer, we will be adding an SLI in a format just released and recommended by the National Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarder Association of America (NCBFAA), which includes the new AES fields.
